Building a Personal Intelligence Ecosystem

I did not want an operating system for my life.

I wanted a quieter relationship with information.

Something that could remember what mattered, help ideas compound, and allow different tools to enter without becoming the centre of the structure.

01 / The idea

The authored layer remains.

The ecosystem begins with a distinction: intelligence tools are not the same thing as memory.

Models can change. Interfaces can disappear. Services can become expensive, noisy or misaligned. The authored substrate must remain.

My notes, decisions, projects, preferences, questions and unfinished ideas therefore live beneath the tools that help me work with them. The system belongs to me before it belongs to any model.

The system beneath the surface

Not to scale · Connections still moving
  1. 01Quiet interface

The surface through which I enter.

  2. 02Personal rooms

    Home · Studio · Signals · Travel

  3. 03Authored substrate

    Obsidian · Markdown · Memory · Decisions

  4. 04Infrastructure

The quiet movement of information between layers.

  5. 05Replaceable tools and models

Temporary machinery, never the house itself.

Complexity grows downward.

03 / Materials inventory

What currently carries the structure

Canonical authored knowledge
Markdown
Portable building material
Quiet
Private point of entry
Personal rooms
Views into different areas of life
Models
Temporary reasoning instruments
Signals
Carefully admitted information from outside

Home
The public surface where selected artifacts become inhabitable

04 / Working principles

Notes kept in the margin

  1. 01

AI should not become the memory system.

  2. 02

Complexity should grow downward, not outward.

  3. 03

    Tools must earn their place.

  4. 04

The system should remain legible without the model.

  5. 05

Automation may assist authorship. It should not quietly replace it.

  6. 06

The purpose is not to capture everything. It is to preserve what deserves continuity.

Open questions

  • How much information should move automatically?
  • What should always require deliberate authorship?
  • How do the rooms share memory without flattening their character?
  • How does the ecosystem forget?
  • Which parts should eventually run locally?
  • What deserves to pass from the private system into Home?
